[Duel] Kai Hiwatari vs Sonja Valiente
Downtown
Thailand, its high noon, the sun is beating down from a cloudless sky.
The rules are simple, the battlefield is full of people at least to start with along with market stalls. There is cover from buildings low walls, anything really. The entire battlefield is a weapon so make sure you use good improvisation with your surroundings. After all everything from a passerby to a watermelon can be used effectively in this battle.
So keep your wits and you might escape with your life, this may not be a duel to the death but we'll see where we go.
Sonja Valiente
Weapons:Glock 18C Pistol and P-64 Model W Pistol,
Ammo: 2x 33 round Glock 18C magazines, 1x 17 round Glock 18C magazine, 3x 7 round P-64 magazines

It was high time in Phnom Penh. The market street was filled with stalls selling a variety of things from fruits and vegitables to dried fish. The street has been busy with people since morning and more were expected to come due to the lunch hour. For the people coming in to grab some food for lunch, they'd definetly be annoyed with the crowd due to long queues and such. To anyone on the street, it'll just be another day, however for somebody it was the perfect set-up for an assasination.
Up in one of the shop houses, a black "pipe" was jutting out alittle from the window. It was a Glock 18 with a modified nozzle to make it suppressor compatible. And the owner of the gun was a young man with blond hair, dressed in a trenchcoat with full black clothing and sunglass. His dull red eyes squinting alittle from the bright sun even with the sunglass due to his albinism.
The young man whose name was Kai, looked around at the crowd bellow. His mission today was to take down a wanted woman who has been making a name for herself within the underground. It was said that she's a feisty one when it comes to firearms and tactics. Kai recalled the image given to him by his employer. The distinct features that the woman had was a phoenix and tribal tatoo.
Kai checked his watch again. It was almost time. His sources had told him that this woman who's called "Sonja Valiente", was currently here in Phnom Penh and that she'd be leaving for her flight today at noon. Kai felt that his hiding spot was good enough. Out of view from people. Not like they could even notice a small "pipe" sticking out of the window. He also doubted they'd even notice the gun had fired due to the suppressor. The only time they'd notice is when he had taken down the target.
Kai pulled the slider and the click sound signaled that the pistol was lock n' loaded. He then pointed the gun towards the street with both hands to improve accuracy. The target should be arriving soon enough.

It was hot. The summer sun had shifted from the equator due to the earths tilt and it sat neatly on top of the country. That alone wasn’t all, it was swelteringly hot with the sun beating down mixed with muggy sweaty humidity. This hadn’t detoured the locals though, the promise of summer tourists meant they were out in force. Other’s however were staying off the streets, including the police. It wasn’t abnormal for them to be taking a break at noon but today they barely even made an appearance. The underground of the city was relishing the heat, taking advantage of the respite, enough to make you want to tuck you wallet into your underwear.
Sonja had nothing to do with any of this. She was here on perfectly legitimate business. Watching over the pick up of some weapon shipments that would be coming out of the city in a few days, joy of joys. She didn’t understand why Norman had asked her to do this but he was paying quite well, something suspicious in itself. But she was here now, and all the underbellies of places like this looking the same she was just trying to waste some time. Realising the number of people that had to watch out for had increased from yesterday she raised her guard a little. There had also been that guy that had been following her yesterday, someone was trying to keep tabs on her.
The woman was dressed in a pair of dusty black combat boots, baggy denim long shorts that had cord fastenings at the bottom holding them snug. On her top just a longish faded yellow semi fitted t-shirt with an old polish clothing logo spread across the bust in cracked orange acrylic. Her Glock was sat in a light fabric holster inside her shorts with the grip just protruding from the right side. On the other leg, completely concealed under her shorts was her thigh holstered little Wojskowy, just in case. People starting to look for lunch started to fill out some of the restaurants. So before having to wait to have an extremely late breakfast Sonja paced over to one of the still empty table.
Taking in the other patrons while she waited she noticed that most seemed to be a little less than reputable; she wasn’t the only armed person in the market. Unbeknown to her the least reputable person here with the worst intentions of anyone else was concealed a hundred yards away. The large awning over the restaurant front completely concealed her from view, it had been a completely subconscious choice. She raised her hand as the waitress passed, taking her attention, “Khanom chin namya láe gaa-fâe yen,” Six months since she was last here and she’d picked the language back up pretty quick. Slightly annoyed the waitress walked off and Sonja went back to looking at the passing crowds, this place was really a dump.

Just as Kai was starting to begin to have second thoughts whether or not the information given to him was reliable, he spoted a lady with light brown hair and dressed in a pair of dusty black combat boots and baggy denim long shorts, walking down the street. "It's her. No doubt about it," he thought. He was able to come up with that assumption as she was the only one with different hair colour, since the locals are asian, they naturaly black hair. It also fitted the picture that was given to him as well and the strong sunlight was more than enough to show her hair's colour.
Here came the tough part. To shoot now or wait alittle longer. As that question rang through his mind, the target had already gone into a restraunt that concealed her from his line of sight and fire. He lowered his gun to minimise the strain on his arms and began thinking of ways to reach his goal while still looking at the restaurant entrance, incase the target leaves. "Should I throw my only flashbang to start a commotion and draw her out? But I may need that latter..", were some of the many things which ran through his mind.
Finally he decided to wait till the target gets out of the restraunt. It would be to his advantage anyways. The target would have a stomach with undigested food and water. This would reduce the performance of the human body as she would feel stomach aches or stitches if she were to even run. This would make it easier for him if the two of them were to get into a gun fight since her movements would slow her down thanks to that.
As he waited, he remembered his employer's word of advice before the mission. ""The reason why I hired you is to teach this employee of mine to not be overconfident with her skills. Use any means necessary to take her down though if you kill her, your pay is reduced by 70%". The name of the employer was Norman.

Sonja waited, she let her mind wander as much as she could and still be focused on what was going on around her. There was a guy a few tables over staring at her, starting to get on her nerves a little bit but she begrudgingly wasn’t planning on starting any trouble here. So she gave him an unattractive scowl back and then went back to brooding darkly over the table. Woe betide anyone that tried to sit next to her, they were likely to get a chopstick in the eye even with her attempt at self-restraint.
After about five minutes she was placated, food had arrived. Taking a pair of chopsticks from the pot she started down at the plate, finally. Manipulating her fingers quite gracefully she picked up the first reel of noodles with a leaf of something attached. The relatively bland dish slipped down her gullet very fast, she wasn’t here to savour the meal, just her body had been complaining for a while now. After a few minutes she was just sipping on the iced coffee crunching on the ices every now and then. She had to find something to do for a little bit, maybe go see the war memorial before she left. Apparently there were real skulls on display, hundreds of them that would be cool.
After a few more minutes she placed the glass down and shifted her feet onto the chair next to her. Her hand sunk into her pocket and pulled out a small black leather wallet. From it she produced a note she placed on the table as the waitress approached, she wasn’t going to be bothered with carrying about small change today. Watching to check the waitress picked it up Sonja stood up and headed inside the restaurant. On the right was the cook and an open kitchen where you could watch him cook your food. Somehow the thought sickened her, so she kept moving through till she made it to the back. There was a service door here, she had leant long ago the front door often wasn’t the best way to leave. She still didn’t know if she was being stalked so it was best to be careful. She moved through the open door passed a surprised looking man leant against the outside wall and into the alley behind the restaurant.
Purposefully she walked forward for a couple of yards before taking an access path back to a main street. The one over from she’d just been on, she would double back in a little while but she wanted to make sure she wasn’t followed.

Minutes have passed by. His target has still yet to come out of restaurant. He checked his watch again and again. However, Sonja didn't leave the place. "She couldn't have..", he thought as he returned his pistol into it's holster which was secured to his belt, rush down the building and head for the restaurant.
He barged into the store and asked the waitress in Thai, "Where did the foreign lady which came in here go?". "The lady left through the back door sir," replied the waitress without hessitation. So, he was right. That woman had managed to get past him. Did she figure out that someone was sniping her or was it just a coincidence? Kai didn't want to think about it. The bottom line now is, this whole thing is turning to a wild goose chase. His not knowing of where Sonja went is gonna cost him. He'd rather have his pay deducted by 70% rather than not getting anything at all.
He could begin searching the whole of Phnom Penh but it'll just waste time and is too risky. Just at that critical moment, he remembered more information which was given to him by Norman. And that information was the place Sonja was currently staying at. Without further ado, Kai thanked the waitress and left the restraunt for Sonja's appartment. After a few minutes walk, Kai finally reached his destination.
He grinned. Sonja's appartment window was facing directly to a hotel just across the road. Best part is that he window was left open. Kai then rushed to the hotel and booked a room on the third floor, such that the room is facing directly towards the target's window. As he looked out from his window, he couldn't help but feel somewhat relieved. The window from Sonja's appartment belonged to her living room where the appartment door could be seen clearly.
Kai drew his Glock 18 and waited for his target's return. If he wasn't able to finish the job, he'd just have to finish her off as this was turning to be harder than expected.

Choeung Ek at least provided what she went there expecting, memorials to wars were important things. There were far to many people that died without anyone knowing their name, a simple thing like this was needed everywhere. But this one was something more, it was something even she frowned upon. While she was for the most part happy to kill innocence people she didn't when there was nothing to gain. Those that killed the people here had very little to gain for their acts, they deserved a memorial more than most. Heading back to the bike she'd rented she looked up at the skyline of the city. This place had enough problems already, a dark history and a pretty bleak future, she shared a few things in common.
Picking up the Glock from under the helmet she slid in back into place before straddling the bike. Clipping the light brown open faced helmet on she started the engine and started away from the car park. The road was dusty and uneven but it was at least a road, the journey back into the city was a quick one.
Leaving the bike at the rental place Sonja headed back towards the hotel, the sun had shifted very little over the last two hours. It still held itself in the sky taunting the the people below. When she arrived she walked straight to her room to escape the heat just a little bit. Her room was air conditioned and relatively cool, not bad for the price. She waltzed right through the living room and into the kitchen, nothing more than a hob, fridge and sink it was separate from the rest of the room by a partition wall. Opening the fridge she took out a beer then sat on the cool tile floor her back against the wall. She had spent too much time in the cold of late to cope with the heat like she was used to. Opening the bottle she sat nursing it, she'd be leaving in a few hours.

His patience paid off. Sonja had returned to her appartment. However, the target rushed into the a different room just as Kai raised his gun and was preparing to fire.
He cursed at himself for being slow. So close yet so far. He could have ended it there but he let his guard down. He began to sweat alot and the aircondition in his room wasn't helping much. He had to do something. He was told that Sonja would be departing from Thailand on a 6pm flight. He checked his watch which tells him that it was already 4:30pm.
He glanced back at Sonja's appartment window. She still has not come out from the other room. He HAD to do something quick or his gonna fail at this job. Out of pure desperation and being out of ideas, he pulled the trigger and shot the inside of her appartment twice just to catch her attention.
He then shut his own window and ran to the bottom floor, out of the streets and to Sonja's hotel. Instead of directly going through the front door, he waited diagonally outside of the building, under a shophouse which was just beside, in such a manner that he was able to observe the main entrance and fire exit. There were no backdoors here, neither are there two fire exits. He pulled the slider and observed. The moment, she appears, he wasn't going to hold back.

As she heard the gunshot Sonja's instincts made her hand flash to her pistol, but she made no other movement. A second later there were two thoowps and a plume of fluff cast into the air. This was hardly the first time she'd been shot at, hell it must have been into four figures by now. Defeatedly and hardly in the mood for a fight she stood up and slowly looked at the open window. So she was being followed, at least she wasn't going mad. Her gaze looking out she slowly moved to see where the shot had come from, nothing to be seen.
Not bothering to walk to the window and make herself a target she moved over to the sofa that had taken both bullets. One had gone through onto the carpet, crouching down she picked it up. The bullet was pretty undamaged nine millimetre, it didn't sound like a rifle so that meant whoever fired it was close. Sighing she stood up and moving around the room positioned to peer out of the open window. Nothing, the angle meant it had to have come from across the street at about the same level and there was nothing there. No broken windows so whoever it was must have gone, though it was odd. To be fired at when she couldn't have been hit seems quite desperate, but they weren't there anymore.
So letting her guard drop a little she walked back to the kitchen and pick up the beer. If it was someone after her then she had no need to chase them right now. She would kill them but she wasn't foolish enough to run out into the street. They must know which room was hers, if they wanted her she was going to make them work for it.

After 30 minutes of waiting, still nothing. Sonja has not came out of the building yet. Kai lowered his pistol and began tapping his feet. "I guess she's playing it safe," he presumed as he peered from behind the wall once more to double check if she was attempting to leave the vacinity.
Kai now had two choices. He could either charge in to the building or stay put at his current position. If he were to charge in, he'd not only risk his success but also his life. Judging from the things she has been doing such as getting away from the window and going out by the backdoor, she was no pushover. He knew that much. Whereas, if he were to stay put, it'd be a test of patience. However it'd be Kai's advantage as he could make Sonja miss her flight thus she has no choice but to stay.
In the end, he decided to wait till 6pm. Kai checked his watch again, it was already a few minutes past 5. If she still wouldn't get out of the building by then, then one of his worries would be done and over with as she has no means to leave the country.
