A threat exposed

The Earth Alliance-led investigators went to the factory where the USSA was alleged to be mass producing mobile weapons. The director of the plant met and greeted them at the entrance of the facility.

The group of investigators consisted of delegates from Earth Alliance, PLANT, the Orb Union, Kingdom of Scandinavia and the Equatorial Union. The Earth Alliance government had accused the South American nation of violating the PEACE Treaty by developing and mass producing mobile weapons. The USSA had fervently refuted the claims and was willing to allow itself to be investigated by an international team. The Earth Alliance volunteered to organize and lead the team to expose the truth. Intelligence reports from the OMNI Enforcer had pinpointed several locations to be investigated.

Suddenly, someone shouted, “Look out! Everybody duck!”

A blast punctuated the exclamation and the people gathered at the entrance of the factory were immediately lying on the ground.

“What was that?”

Before anyone could reply, a second blast shook the ground. Two of the cars that drove the investigation team to the facility were in flames. Everyone was scrambling for cover, away from the parked cars. A barrage of projectile riddled the third car and it exploded. The rounds were fired from the CIWS of a mobile suit.

The Orb Union delegate asked, “Why is a mobile suit doing here?”

“I have never seen such a design before. This must be a new model,” an Earth Alliance delegate stated. The representative from PLANT gasped and exclaimed, “They developed a new suit!”

Four more mobile suits of the same design appeared. They destroyed the remaining cars and moved towards the delegates.

“No! We did not build this!” The representative from the USSA was angry and confused. Before he could rebuke further, a hand grabbed his arm. “There’s no time for this! They are here to kill us. Run!

One of the mobile suits raised its beam rifle and took aim at the fleeing investigators. Just as the trigger was about to be pulled, a beam bolt struck the beam rifle, causing it to explode. The four mobile suits turned to see a mobile suit flying towards them, beam rifle raised and ready to fire.

The battle was over moments after it started. The unidentified mobile suit left the scene, leaving behind four wrecked mobile suits. The rescue team only arrived long after the suit had left. The investigators were treated for minor injuries and placed under heavy police protection.

Darius Corvac woke to an old sting in his shoulder. It was only a minor graze compared to the injuries he'd sustained in the previous wars but his body was much younger back then. He looked up at his daughter and smile serenely. It was nothing to be worried about. The attack however, was another problem. They had not even entered the facility when their escort cars exploded. Several delegates had fallen from pure shock and watched awe struck, as the Mobile suits landed using the smoke rising from the three burning cars to conceal themselves. Even though a mocking breeze granted them witness, near all eyes of the delegates were too fear ridden at the time or were too inexperienced to process the model. And yet, they still had time to bicker despite transparent intent of the suits. Darius was no exception. His first and foremost job in the delegation was to represent USSA and he did so on impulse, angrily exclaiming a defense against the accusation EA had pinned with no regards to the impending death sentence. As a beam rifle took aim at the group, Sen had grabbed a hold of Darius' hand and jerked him forward, shouting a desperate order to the whole group before leading the feeble blind run away from their aggressors.

The ground drastically shook once more after they had rounded a corner. No one thought to look back. No one could have thought their deaths were postponed the instant the wall they were moving along had a hole melt through it. It came crumbling down seconds later. Shouts and desperate scuffling of branded shoes were muffled by the grinding concrete and support metal debris as it fell and landed in a heap where the delegation was. As the subsequent puff of gray dust cleared, so did the sound of mechanical destruction. Silence settled again as Darius helped several fallen representatives up and counted no major casualties. Sen had snuck back around the corner in a daring act of curiosity only to find a different Mobile Suit vanish before her eyes. A strong gust of wind rushed past her after she recognized the familiar sound of thrusters taking off. It left the carcasses of the original suits in flames and half the facility destroyed.

Police and paramedics rush arrived moments later and escorted the delegation a fair distance away from the attack area before beginning treatment and questioning. None of the figureheads could give a clear answer as every recount was muddled in with the rest. While the NOVA and ZAFT delegates were being objective about their views, the EA delegate was chiseling more accusations.

Sen couldn't care less for the words the man still spiting out but Darius could hear it all. His smile, weak. It was troubling him greatly. Sen could see that but couldn't do a thing about it. She'd had an impulse earlier to march up to the guy and tell him to shut up. But she couldn't. Being part of USSA's security detail, she would only cause more implications for Darius to shoulder. 'Why does it matter what the guy's saying anyway? Sen raged internally. The suits will be identified from the rubble along with their allegiance. Simple as that. She believed in what her father said... But how much did he know?

His smile was weak because he too was confused and questioning himself to no ends. But having a member of the Earth Alliance accusing was bringing an old lust course through him. It was EA's fault. EA and their weapons. Their mobile suits.... their suits? Darius got off the ambulance and stood straight turning his head to look at the distant butchered metal heaps. He knew there was something off. Something from the back of his long term memory, his past experience itched to yell out. Darius pushed his way through the thick police barricade and began walking to where the enemy weapons lay. The rest of the delegation was too busy disputing over the situation to notice him. Sen followed Darius silently as did the police coordinator send three of his heavily dressed officers after them. As Darius neared the disfigured lumps, a nearby severed joint twitched and exploded. That instant, Darius realized what the suits were as Sen and the three policemen systematically cut in front of Darius. And as if the revelation triggered the encore, a platform clearing siren rang distortedly from the ruins of the facility. All eyes were drawn to the half demolished building through the smoking limbs. Gears clanked. Air hissed as an air tight floor compartment in the building opened. Three factory high silhouettes rose from underneath as the three policemen with their plastic shields up began backing into Sen.

"What're you guys doing?!" She yelled at them distractedly, as three round lights blinked on.

It moved towards them slowly as if indulging in the fear of the considerable crowd outside. The ground vibrated with every dominating step until all three bathed menacingly in the revealing sunlight.

"N...new Windams..." Darius stated in awe. "Shit." Sen added for dire comical relief.

The three shielded policemen were still slowly backing away as if their trained legs told them to hold their ground but logic told them not to. The crowd behind them burst into havoc as the police coordinator barked orders into deaf ears. They were late. About a decade too late. Sen was alarmed to what was to come. CIWS chambers were just revving up.

"Dad!" She cried, grabbing a firm hold of his arm and yanking his full body to the side before five plus centimeter thick bullets riddled the ground, through the shield and bodies of the policemen and trained to the ambulance. Several vehicles were engulfed in its own flames quickly after as the deafening roar of CIWS fire continued and slaughtered every living breathing being in the vicinity.

"Modified... Windams... Sen" Darius wheezed and gasped as he lay sidewards clutching a leg. Sen followed his body's length and counted, one, leg. His foot attached only by the lame skin that wasn't severed by the bullets. She felt like throwing up as his blood dribbled into a river.

"FOCUS!" Darius yelled at Sen over his pain and instantly Sen's eyes shot back to his. Her face already soaked in tears.

"I-I'm sorry! I should've been faster Dad! I should've-"

"SEN!"

Sen shut up though her body still wheezed.

"Remember. Modified. Windams. Must be. Earth Alliance's. Report. Back... Must..." His voice wavered and began forcing deeper breaths.

"D-Dad! I'm not leaving without you!!"

"I didn't bring you up, so you could die with me!"

"Bu-"

"No matter what, you can't die!"

And with that, Darius pushed Sen away with his free arm. Caught off guard, Sen tried regaining balance but instead stepped herself further back and safely into a shaded cave under one of the contours of an unturned Windam cockpit. To perform the push, Darius had to pounce his upper body in the air a bit before he could free his arm and push her. He now laid facing up as timely tremors started again. The three modified suits moved into view. Their lead noticed Darius' twitching body and turned its head to demeaningly mock him. Darius stared back, taunting it's pilot.

"And tell Ana... she'll be fine," he whispered before bullets sprayed into his corpse.

Sen didn't dare to watch. She sat huddling her legs and buried her face the instant she heard the bullets exiting their chambers. She rocked back and forth repeating the words Darius left her with in mind. She was so desperate to remember them she didn't even realized when the earth quaked, marking the arrival of the disappearing suit once again.

When they arrived at the base, they practically had no idea what was waiting to greet them as part of the "reception party". In fact, they didn't expect the "reception party" at the facility turned out to be a hostile group of people waiting to make sure that they would never return home to report, let alone tell, what had they discovered at the base.

Chaos. That was the only correct term to describe the situation in hand. Within a split second, order was lost to chaos, and chaos brought the primal instincts in everyone present at the facility.

The Earth Alliance delegates started throwing all sorts of accusations at the USSA delegation after the destruction of four attacking mobile suit, by an unknown mobile suit. They are oblivious to the fact that they are being attacked by several mobile suits of a design that they have never seen before.

Even in the face of death, they remained defiant about their stand on the issue of the attack on the Earth Alliance base located at Panama. Until the perpetrators can be found and judged, they would stop at nothing to find out who did that, and why.

One of the delegates were so busy pointing his fingers at the USSA delegation that he was turned into mincemeat the moment the CIWS from one of the mobile suits started firing. Ally or foe, that is not what the attacking mobile suits were looking for...it is complete annihilation of the delegation from multiple factions.

The massacre continued, seemingly turning seconds into minutes, and minutes into hours...until some form of "interference" arrived.

Inside the operations room, activity was buzzing left and right, and giant monitors were filled with screens. A figure stood in front of the largest screen in the room, looking at the screen, displaying a map of the Earth.

"Sir..." a man, going up to the figure, said. "An unknown mobile suit arrived and attacked, sir."

"Any visual of the mobile suit?"

"No."

"Listen. I want visuals. By hook, or by crook. I don't care if someone is killed," the figure, hearing what happened, and the answer from his subordinate, shot back. "No matter what, this plan must be completed without interference at all costs. And I want the those that did this madness to be brought down in the name of justice."

" Yet to be confirmed, are the deaths of all members of the International investigation team lead by the Earth Alliance and along with other nations. The delegation was scheduled to inspect a South American base suspected of peace treaty violating activities but were met with the aggression by three unidentified mobile suits. The attack was quickly ended however, by a fourth latecomer with no witnesses to recount the exact occurrence. USSA authorities were dispatched immediately to the site and upon arrival, treated the group for minor injuries. Police state that they received word citing the arrival of three more suits of similar designed before the last transmission was cut off.

We now go live to Jack Newman for more details.

Jack, how is the situation over there? "

" There has been a massacre here Sandra.

Just earlier, the spokesperson for INVICTUS confirmed the deaths of all members of the International delegation and with them, all members of the teams dispatched by authorities after the first wave. And as I speak the number of casualties is still being counted. Among the confirmed deaths however is Lieutenant Commander Robber Haller of the Atlantic Federation; Commander Gants Akhada of the Eurasian Federation; Commander Shaiming Chen of the Republic of Eastern Asia; Wing Commander Dorian Myers of PLANT; Major Arc Ebby of Orb Union; First Lieutenant Sobiec Tamte of Scandinavia; Major En Huruda of Equatorial Union; and First Lieutenant Darius Corvac of South America.

Although the site has been barricaded, those who arrived slightly earlier say they saw glimpses of 'bodies scattered' in the enclosed area and vans, suspected of transporting even more bodies, exiting the compound. The exact number dead has yet to be confirmed but estimates say it is close to seventy.

The Mobile Suits responsible for the attacks have yet to be-"

" Hold it! Someone! Stop that man! " shouted a exasperated commanding voice from behind the water weighed plastic walls.

A dirty green haired male attempted to ram his way through the guarded pathway but was caught in between the two active policemen.

" THE SUITS! " He yelled desperately through.

" Shut him up! "

" THEY'RE- "

One of the officers muffled the disguised man with a hand and pushed him back through the barricade. But he was bitten. As officer cried in pain, the "green" bloke hounded his head through the two shoulders and continued, " THE'RE THE OMNI'S!! I'M DANIEL CROWE OF CHANNEL TWO AND THE SUITS HAVE OMNI'S LOG- "

He was muffled again and instantly pulled behind the pale plastic blue. The two officers nodded to some silent words and began marching menacingly with backup towards the crowd of reporters. It was enough to initiate a speedy rambling of last words from mouths to lenses.

" All equipment off. "

" Viewers, there may have just been a ground breaking turn of events. The dispute now working against the Earth Alliance who were the the first to raise accusations and led the international investigation..."

" Hey you! Camera! off! NOW! "

The camera shook.

"...team but Daniel Crowe of Channel Two had infiltrated the compound to bring news of the destroyed mobile suits being OMNI's. This is Jack Newman signing out. "
