Elanore Knox
Player
Player name: Kino
English language proficiency: Native Speaker
Character number: 3
Faction: Earth Alliance
Requested faction membership: Yes
General
Full name: Elanore Knox
Nickname: Ellie, much to her disdain, and Timebomb. Some people simply refer to her as "Medic".
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Race: Natural
Occupation: Doctor/Medic
Birthplace: United Kingdom
Citizenship: Atlantic Federation
Personality: When one first hears the name "Elanore Knox", one would expect a tall, and perhaps cold looking individual....Elanore is what you could describe as an "eccentric". While most people in her profession are calm and calculating, Elanore is the exact opposite. She is as volatile as a bomb and could go off at any second. Easily annoyed, Elanore isn't the most patient person in the world. She is quick to snap at people and even quicker to sling insults such as "idiot!" and "Moron!". Often she resorts to smacking people, though not seriously enough to cause them harm; it is done in a very "that was REALLY stupid." kind of way. Very brash in nature, it's apparent that it's just the way she is; if you actually end up making her angry, you will DEFINITELY know the difference. When in a state of actual anger and not annoyance, Elanore spits more serious insults vehemently, and in a tone not many get to hear.... it's a tone of voice that could leave the bravest of men whimpering in their sleep for years to come.
Irritability aside, it's quite easy to get along with Elanore.... sort of. Most people find her strange and too erratic to bother with; unless they need to be patched up, they try their best to ignore this irritable pile of bitterness. This doesn't really seem to bother Elanore all that much. She prefers to be alone anyway, as she sees people as a nuisance unless she's patching them up. It almost seems like she's a completely different person when treating a patient, almost to the point of being bipolar. One minute she can be arguing with someone, the next she could be trying her best to save their life and ease their pain. No one is really sure why Elanore is this way. Asking would probably get them hurt.
Ellie is quite secretive. She doesn't willingly give out information about herself, and she has a hard time making friends. Having been alone most of her life, she is accustomed to solitude and quite enjoys it. Little information is known about Elanore simply because she refuses to divulge such information. To most everyone she is known as the "fiery medic with an attitude". This sense of secrecy not only makes her an enigma to many people, but it also makes her appear somewhat conceited. With a brain like hers, it is hard NOT to be conceited. Even so, she does not brag about her abilities. Not because she isn't proud enough to do so....rather, the thought rarely crosses her mind; when you can do something very well, you should spend your time DOING it, not bragging about it. This secrecy and solitude brought on by her eccentric attitude, though she claims to enjoy it, has left her somewhat bitter.
Little Ms. Timebomb has a hard time showing her affection or feelings (besides annoyance, that is). She's never been involved with a person on a close and personal level as she has preferred to keep people at an arm's length away. When criticized, she slings insults, and when complimented, she simply brushes it aside so as not to deal with it. She's never really had anyone she could call a friend because she's always found other things more important. Elanore is a work-a-holic and it shows; she becomes completely engrossed in what she is doing and becomes extremely irritated when disturbed. Considering that someone’s life could hang in the balance (not necessarily the patients’), it is best to leave her be while she’s working.
Appearance
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 105lbs
Hair Colour and Style: Elanore's hair is a rich brown colour that seems to shift colours sometimes. In bright light, it sometimes appears to take on some roan-reddish hues, but in a darker lighting, it seems to exhibit deeper shades of brown. Her hair is cropped slightly short and is somewhat shaggy and disheveled in appearance.
Eye Colour: Elanore's eyes are a pale colour, light gray to most people.
Identifying Marks: Her frown; she can't leave home without it. Also, a scar along her shoulder and leg,
Skin Tone: Pale, but not abhorrently so.
Build: Thin, showing some Ectomorphic traits.
Clothing: Elanore's choice of clothing can only be described as miss-matched. Her clothing changes drastically depending on the situation, but she can most commonly be found wearing small, gray-green cargo pants, hiking boots, mismatched socks, black finger-less gloves, a plain and somewhat baggy crimson long-sleeved shirt, and a black ribbon tied around her right arm. When on duty, she wears the appropriate gear, and also has a lab coat tucked away for special occasions.

Background
Mother: Maria Knox, Hillary Holmes
Father: Alexander Knox
Siblings: None
Spouse: None
Personal History: Hailing from the UK, the Knox family wasn't exactly your average bunch. Alexander was a doctor specializing in surgery, and Maria was a nurse who found her niche in different medications and chemicals. Together, they formed an odd pair, but somehow it worked. He was quick to anger but incredibly skilled at what he did, and she was somewhat bitter and sarcastic. but at the same time incredibly brilliant. After meeting in their chosen field of research, the two quickly became close, and eventually married one another. They decided to settle down and start a family; thus, Elanore was born.
Born in CE 66, Elanore was like a terrible but great fusion of both her parents amazing qualities and horrible qualities. She inherited her father's quick temper and her mother's snappiness. On the flipside however, she also gained her father's talent and her mother's keen intellect. When her life began, she was a distant and moody child, showing only real concern and affection towards her parents. She didn’t play nice with other children… they were far too boring; always excited about nap time and lunchtime… what a waste. Elanore would much rather spend her time figuring out the best and structurally-sound way to build a castle out of building blocks, or calculate the average lifespan of a chocolate chip cookie before it went stale. If she could, she would much rather rampage through the classroom discovering and inventing stuff Leonardo Da Vinci-style than spend it hunkered down at a table playing in the sand. Because of this… forward nature, Elanore tended to get into some trouble. Actually, ‘some’ was putting it lightly; running around with biology textbooks and hitting other students who asked stupid questions didn’t really sit well with most of the teachers. When her parents were confronted on the issue… they didn’t really do much to correct it; they were either far too busy with work, or simply just didn’t care. They could see that their daughter was learning, so they didn’t much have a problem with it. Her behavior like this in school continued for three years.
It was then that Elanore’s life was turned upside down. In CE 73, the Junius Seven Colony Drop: Operation Break the World happened. Death rained from the sky, smashing into the Earth and causing critical damage in the areas affected. One of the areas hit was Stonehenge…which was quite close to her hometown. The general area was hit and hit hard, creating widespread destruction; Elanore’s hometown was almost completely wiped off the map. Chunks of the colony rained down, destroying buildings and lives, starting fires and killing many people, the shock wave and other consequences claiming the lives of many others. Elanore was walking home from school when the world decided to end; the next thing she knew, her world was on fire, people were screaming, dying, or dead, and most of the buildings had collapsed. One minute she was walking down the street like it was any ordinary day, and the next she was laying face down in some rubble, bleeding and confused. Suffering from some head trauma, the little 7-year-old girl found that it was difficult to move one of her legs and one of her arms as well. She laid there for a moment while trying to get her bearings, but all she could hear were the screams of the suffering and terrified people and, in the distance, sirens. What had happened? What was going on? Pushing some debris off of her, Elanore, for the first time in her life, was completely horrified. Everywhere she looked, there was nothing…absolutely nothing but carnage and death. Never before had she been so overwhelmed, so close to vomiting from the sheer reality of the situation at hand. She witnessed more suffering that day than most people could accumulate in a lifetime. She didn’t know what to do. In an effort to stand, the young girl found that she could not… and so she crawled. Elanore tried her best to crawl through the wreckage, through the carnage, towards any place safe…the safest place she could think of: home. Along the way, however, she could not tear her eyes off of what she was seeing. There were so many people… so many people screaming, so many people who were hurt….so many bodies of the deceased. One person in particular caught her attention; it was her neighbour, an old and gentle man who she had only seen on occasion but had no reason to dislike. He looked…so scared, and something in her chest burned. Crawling towards him, she grabbed for his hand; he was lying on his back, half covered by rubble she knew she wouldn’t be able to move even if she weren’t injured. She didn’t know why she had crawled to his side, but through his tears, he managed to smile and call her an angel. Elanore stayed with the old man, trying to ease his pain as best she could. He died a short while later, thanking Elanore for staying with him, and that she should get herself to a medic. Elanore stayed there for a while, holding the lifeless hand of a man she had barely known, tears leaking from her eyes for reasons she didn’t know. After a while, rescue personnel arrived and dragged her away from his body; she did not put up much of a fight. She was at a loss for words. The woman who had lifted her gently into her arms and away from the carnage gave her a sad look…. a look that showed she hated the fact that a young child should have to see events such as this.
Many people were killed that day, and, as Elanore later found out, her parents were among the deceased. Their workplace had been hit directly by falling debris…. no one in that building had a chance. Now alone in the world, Elanore didn’t really know what to do. Her home was destroyed, her parents killed… she had nowhere to live, and no one to care for her. A child of 7, she was now an orphan. The woman who had picked her up from the rubble of her hometown, Hillary Holmes, ended up taking her in after all was said and done. Elanore had suffered a concussion, a broken shoulder, and a fractured leg. Hillary helped Elanore on her road to recovery, but Elanore seemed quite unresponsive. Somewhat traumatized by what she had seen, what she had been through, she ceased being the passionate child she had once been. Instead, she was quiet, sullen, and talked very little. She seemed almost to seethe in anger at every chance she got, but unlike the Elanore of old, she held her tongue and instead would limp off to be by herself. After the results of the colony drop and her gradual recovery, Elanore threw herself into her studies in an attempt to block out the world around her. Sometimes, if she concentrated on her studies hard enough, she couldn’t hear the screaming or the fire anymore… Elanore decided to move over towards the United States to attend prestigious schools there to enhance her knowledge. Elanore thanked Hillary for what she had done, and departed for the US by the age of 9. Hillary had set Elanore up with a family friend over in the US, and the funds from her parents life insurance was more than enough to pay her rent there and get her through school.
Elanore’s chosen profession was that of a doctor, someone who could save lives and ease the suffering of others. Some people speculated that it was because of what happened, but Elanore would scoff and say that was nonsense, that her parents chosen careers had had an effect on her. Deep inside though, she knew she was lying… after seeing so many people suffering at once, so many dead and dying, she wanted to do anything to help. No one should have to go through something like that… and she wanted to help in that endeavor. Her intense intelligence was able to help skip her up a few grades, and she became somewhat of a child prodigy, flying through school at an accelerated rate. Elanore graduated High School at the age of 14, and Medical School at the age of 18, almost 19. Legally able to practice medicine, she made a decision that she would not readily be able to walk away from…
Elanore Knox joined the Earth Alliance Military; she had heard that they were in need of Medical personnel, and so she jumped at the chance. One thing that scared her, however, was why. She wasn’t quite sure if it was because she wished to ease the suffering of those involved in war, where suffering was most evident…. Or if she simply wanted to be a part of a force that would exact revenge on those who had caused HER suffering long ago. Tossing it to the side, she claimed that it was because her job was to ease suffering, no matter the race, no matter the reason. If there was someone who was hurt… she would help them. Elanore was stationed at an Earth Alliance Military base as the medic soon after applying despite her age, her credentials and ability proving that age was not a matter. On her first day on duty, a woman was brought in to get treated; her name was Elizabeth Hawkins, and apparently, she had been shot by accident by a teammate, a misfire of sorts. This was Elanore’s first job ever, and so she dived into it with fervor, eager to prove that she was not just some dumb kid who got the job by luck alone. Elanore’s initial impression of Elizabeth wasn’t… the best outlook. Elanore saw her as somewhat foolish and egotistical, patriotic to a fault. Something about the woman annoyed Elanore…but at the same time, she was intrigued; never before had she found someone so passionate about what they did…. aside from herself of course. The woman threw herself into what she believed, much like she did… and secretly, Elanore found herself respecting her first ever patient in her new career. Elizabeth apparently thought that their meeting meant automatic friendship, and insisted on staying in contact. Somewhat flabbergasted, Elanore provided the Soldier with a way to contact her before she left, if only to make her shut up and leave rather than to enjoy communicating with her.
Since then, Elanore has had many cases, earning renown as a capable doctor and, if the situation called for it, medic. She received some basic combat instruction so that she could be of more use in the field if need be, but certainly not enough to be a top-notch soldier; she was taught enough to allow her to defend herself and others if need be, but not a whole lot else.
